Belarus expects “serious effect” from CIS free trade agreement Print E-mail

Minsk, 15 August. Belarus expects a “serious effect” from an agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which has recently been ratified by Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, Foreign Minister Syarhey Martynaw told reporters in Minsk on Wednesday following his talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. “At the current new stage, this agreement establishes principles of free trade,” Mr. Martynaw said. “Since the scope of the agreement covers the entire CIS region, we naturally expect a serious effect.”
